Limited time Brigitte GOAT skin announced by Overwatch League

March 2023 · 2 minute read

Season 3 of the Overwatch League is right around the corner, and to celebrate the 2020 opening weekend, the league has announced a special edition Brigitte skin.

The special skin, dubbed GOAT Brigitte, will be available starting February 6, and will be vaulted on the 19th.

“GOAT” is not just a reference to the popular “greatest of all time” acronym: In professional Overwatch, a team named GOATS pioneered a special composition that consisted of three tanks and three supports, using Brigitte as a mainstay. This composition would go on to dominate three stages of Overwatch League play, and became known as the GOATS comp.

Of course, the advent of 2-2-2 role lock prevented the composition from ever being played again, but its legacy remains, and will be celebrated within this special Brigitte skin.

As seen in the announcement video, Brigitte’s skin transforms her from a shieldmaiden to a warrior in more than just a simple palette swap.

Notably, her hair has turned from a dark red to purple, while her old battle armor is replaced with a sleek white coat.

Meanwhile, her shield has a menacing goat face on it, which is bound to scare foes away, out of fear of getting shield bashed and stunned.

So far it’s not known how many special League Tokens the skin will cost, but previous special skins, such as Jjonak’s MVP “Zen-Nakji” Zenyatta and the London Spitfire Flying Ace Winston skin, set users back 200.

Tokens can be earned by watching the Overwatch League with a Battlenet linked account, or by simply purchasing them.

Jjonak’s “Zen-Nakji” Legendary skin cost players 200 tokens.

This isn’t the only special Overwatch League skin coming in 2020: As Dexerto previously reported, 2019 season MVP Jay ‘Sinatraa’ Won revealed that he would be getting a special Zarya skin, similar to Jjonak’s own exclusive skin in celebration of his stellar 2018 season.

While it hasn’t been confirmed yet, it’s likely that, just like the London Spitfire, the San Francisco Shock will get their own skin for becoming league champions.

Season 3 of the Overwatch League kicks off Saturday, February 8, with matches in Dallas and New York.
