HighDistortion fires back at Twitch "hate" for not playing Fortnite

January 2023 · 2 minute read

Jimmy ‘HighDistortion’ Moreno has revealed the amount of hate he has been receiving on his Twitch channel, with “trolls” criticising his decision to ditch Fortnite for other games.

The former Team SoloMid star, who has over 1.6 million followers on his Twitch channel, had previously been streaming the battle royale title full-time, where he became the first player to reach 100,000 kills. However, he has has decided to try out another game in recent weeks – Overwatch.

With that change has come a change in opinion from some members of his community, too, who have been urging the former Fortnite pro to return.

HighDistortion has faced a lot of “hate” after swapping Fortnite for Overwatch on Twitch.

It appears that the calls for a change in game have gone too far, though, as the 35-year old revealed that he now feels discouraged from streaming due to the reactions from some viewers.

On January 28, he tweeted: “It’s honestly discouraging as f**k for me, for the amount of hate I get on Twitch for not playing Fortnite.

“Didn’t expect so many to chime in,” he added in a follow-up, after a number of followers backed him on the platform. “Just had a plethora of trolls/hate last stream as if I hurt people for playing something else.”

Thanks for the positivity people! Just gotta still recognize I get to play games for a career.

While HighDistortion has made it very clear in the past that he would like to explore different games, as seen with his previous stint on Apex Legends, the amount of criticism he’s facing for branching out has certainly had a negative impact on him. That much is clear.

A number of other streamers have turned away from Fortnite of late, although regular Twitch viewers and members of the gaming community know the likelihood of their returns will always increase when new updates are released.

Whether or not Moreno will start streaming Epic Games’ popular battle royale game in the near future remains to be seen. We’ll have to wait and see what he makes of the 11.50 update on February 20, when Season 2 kicks off.
