How to get Mythic Recycler in Fortnite Season 6

May 2023 · 3 minute read

Epic Games have added a brand-new weapon called the Recycler aka the ‘Junk Gun’ to Fortnite Season 6, and if the name didn’t give it away already, the whole thing is made from rubbish.

After being leaked within the game’s files and in the Season 6 trailer, the Recycler weapon was made available to players on April 6, 2021.

While the launcher is a bit unusual compared to other weapons in the game or even in its same class, it’s still a bit interesting and can be found in one form or another around the map pretty consistently.

A number of Primal weapons have been added in Season 6, but nothing quite like the new Junk Gun.

Where to get the normal Recycler in Fortnite

As of April 6, 2021, players began to notice that the Recycler gun was appearing on the Island, and fortunately, getting your hands on the new weapon is pretty easy.

Unlike the Exotic weapons that need to be purchased from specific NPCs with Gold Bars or the Primal weapons that require crafting, the Recycler can simply be found as floor loot or in chests.

The official description of the Recycler gun in Fortnite reads, “Harvest objects for Ammo, spit out densely packed projectiles of junk! Watch out for the Shrapnel!”

How to get the Mythic Spire Assassin’s Recycler

With the release of update 16.20, Epic have added a Mythic-rarity version of the weapon to the island. Unlike the Rare, Epic, and Legendary version of the Recycler, however, this one can only be found by taking down the Spire Assassin at the center of the map.

This version isn’t that much different compared to its regular counterparts: it still has the same ammo capacity, the same reload speed, and the same ammo type. The only difference is that this version deals only three more damage compared to its Legendary counterpart.

At the end of the day, this won’t make a ton of difference but it will allow you to kill enemies a tiny big faster compared to the counterparts.

It’s also worth pointing out that this replaced the Spire Assassin’s Primal Shotgun, so that’s no longer available to find in-game.

Is the Recycler any good in Fortnite?

Time will tell if the Recycler is actually any good when compared to other powerful Fortnite weapons like the Primal Shotgun — which was recently nerfed — and the Mechanical Shockwave Bow, but it’s certainly a lot of fun to use.

Players can “vacuum up” environmental elements like trees and scrap to create ammo for the gun. This is time-consuming and certainly isn’t ideal in the heat of battle, but it’s useful when you’ve run out of ammo for your other weapons.

The Recycler can be found in three rarities: Rare, Epic, and Legendary. You’re far more likely to find a Legendary Recycler in a chest as opposed to floor loot, but remember you can also upgrade weapons by speaking to certain NPCs in Fortnite.

Stats for the Recycler have been shared by HYPEX, and it seems pretty decent. The weapon has a magazine size of 3, has a reload time of 2.0 seconds, and does 83 damage per shot to opponents when in its Legendary rarity.

It’s unclear whether the Recycler will stick around for the entirety of Season 6 or if it’s a limited-time weapon, but given the Primal theme of the season, it seems likely you’ll be able to use it for a while.

Besides, with all those reinforcements popping up around POIs like Pleasant Park and Retail Row, there’s plenty of opportunities to gather ammo for the gun.
