Respawn confirm they are aware of accounts being wiped

A major Apex Legends patch was released on April 3 which updated the game to version 1.1. On top of this, players are reporting having all of their progress reset back to level 1 after installing the update.

This is a major issue as grinding through the Battle Pass takes quite some time and being reset back can be soul-crushing for many players.

We are aware and looking into the issue with accounts losing their progress after the update today. Will provide update ASAP.

Respawn Entertainment, the developers of Apex Legends, released a response to these reports saying the team is aware of the problem and is investigating it.

“We are aware and looking into the issue with accounts losing their progress after the update today,” Respawn tweeted. “Will provide update ASAP.”

Until the issue has been resolved we recommend players do not buy or craft anything. We'll continue to provide updates, along with an ETA, as information comes in.

Players are encouraged to not buy or craft anything while the issue is being looked into.

megathread was created on the Apex Legends subreddit where players reported their accounts being reset since the subreddit was being flooded with players reporting the problem.

“My level 85 account got reset to 0 all the sudden with the update,” wrote user MrKhaled.

It seems like this is a major issue that is affecting numerous players so it’s good to see Respawn get a quick response out there.

DONT UPDATE APEX, it resets ur account progress entirely, levels, items etc

Wait for a fix!

Pro Apex Legends player Mendo tweeted out the update was wiping accounts in an effort to warn those who haven’t seen the update from Respawn.

It’s a shame to see this happening considering the update adds a lot of requested player features such as the ability to play with your last squad, mute buttons and even more features that go after cheaters.

We will keep you updated on this issue as more information becomes available.

UPDATE

Following hours of confusion, Respawn have finally given a detailed description of what happened with the release of the v1.1 update and given some clues as to what the next steps will be.

The bottom line is that all players will not lose any of their overall progress and will be able to get back to the game as soon as everything has been fully ironed out.

WHAT HAPPENED?

When the 1.1 update went live, players were unintentionally moved to the wrong servers that didn’t have their persistence and this caused players accounts to appear reset with all progression lost.

WHAT DID WE DO TO FIX IT?

Fortunately, your progress up until the update was still safe and sound. We shut down all live servers so we could remove players from the wrong place and roll up the correct servers with your progress. Once we confirmed internally that we had fixed the issue we started rolling out the right servers starting with Xbox and staggered the updates to PS4 and PC.

WHAT ABOUT YOUR PROGRESS?

Everything you’ve accomplished and bought in Apex up until the 1.1 Patch that went live at 10:00 PST today should be restored.

Any in-game purchases and progress acquired during the time between 1.1 going live and the fix will be reverted – levels earned, items unlocked, packs opened, and spent currency. If you continued to play and didn’t patch then this will not affect you.

Any currency purchased, spent or not, will be carried back over to their original account state. i.e. – if you bought $20 worth of coins, and spent $18, then you’ll will get $20 after the fix.
