Evil Geniuses win LCS 2022 Spring Playoffs: Recap, placements, results

October 2022 · 3 minute read

NA is living evil. The LCS has crowned a new champion in Spring 2022 with Evil Geniuses taking home their first title, sweeping both Team Liquid and 100 Thieves in Houston in a monumental victory. They will now represent the region at MSI 2022 in May.

If there was one word used to sum up the LCS 2022 Spring Split, it would be chaotic. Now, if there was a word to sum off the playoffs though, it’d be evil.

Evil Geniuses have made history by becoming the fourth organization in four splits to win an LCS title in the 2022 Spring Playoffs.

They demolished the competition on the way there — after being knocked into the lower bracket by Team Liquid early on, they knocked through FlyQuest (3-1) and Cloud9 (3-0) easily to make it to the main event in Houston.

Rematched with Liquid in the lower bracket final, it was sophomore AD carry Kyle ‘Danny’ Sakamaki who stole the show in their 3-0 drubbing of the favorites. Then, with reigning champions 100 Thieves in their sights, solo laners Jeong ‘Impact’ Eon-yeong and Joseph ‘jojopyun’ Joon-pyun stole the show with yet another decisive 3-0 sweep to win the org’s first title.

Evil Geniuses will now go off to Busan to represent NA at MSI 2022, where they’ll face Europe’s G2 Esports and Oceania’s ORDER in Group C. As for the rest of the LCS, all eyes look towards Summer and NA’s three slots at Worlds.
