How to fix Warzone friends list not showing issue

December 2022 · 4 minute read

Call of Duty Warzone players have, once again, been running into a strange friends list issue with no players appearing online. If this has happened to you, don’t worry, there is an easy fix.

Although Warzone is now in its third year on the market, new issues continue to impact the CoD BR every other day. Even with the swap to the Pacific in Season 1, that’s still the case with new bugs appearing and old glitches returning more often than ever.

While some issues are more manageable, others can completely ruin the experience. The latest friends list bug certainly falls into the latter category.

Players have reported disappearing friends list dating back to Modern Warfare 2019. Given Warzone runs from the same launcher on console, it’s no surprise the bug has spread to the BR.

If you’ve noticed an empty friends list, fear not. Here are a few simple fixes you can try to work around the issue.

Warzone continues to see its fair share of new bugs with every update.

How to fix Warzone disappearing friends list: Xbox & PlayStation

If you’re on a console and suddenly find that your in-game friend’s list has gone blank, well, there are a few things that you can do to resolve it.

The most obvious option is to use your console-specific friends list. Navigating out of the game and inviting friends on the same console can definitely help. Though this doesn’t work for friends on other systems.

To fix that, the first thing you want to try is restarting your game. There’s a chance a small update went live over the past few hours, leaving you and your friends on different versions of the game. Simply restarting Warzone can help cross that off the list.

Friends lists have been disappearing in Warzone of late, even in the new Pacific era.

If these steps still don’t resolve the problem, it’s worth checking your offline friends list.

Every now and then, a random Warzone bug can force your active friends into the offline category by mistake. Even if your friends are appearing offline, you should still be able to invite them.

Below is a step-by-step guide to follow in the event your Warzone friends list disappears.

  • Check your Warzone app is fully updated.
  • If not, quit the game and restart.
  • Look through your offline friends list just in case.

If you’re on a PC, you might not need to restart the game like console players. Instead, you can always rely on applications like Discord that have Warzone integration to simply join a friend’s game that way.

However, to get your actual friends list back in-game, you’ll need to follow the same steps as console players in restarting the application and making sure it’s fully updated.

The friends list goes blank, but there are ways to get around the Warzone issue.

How to start a Regiment in Warzone

As YouTuber Acez Gaming once pointed out, there is also another way to get around the friends list disappearing, and that’s to start a Regiment in-game.

If you’ve not started a Regiment before, basically, you can add friends or players that you often team with to a group of favorites. As seen in the past, while the friends list might disappear, the Regiment won’t and you can still send invites that way.

  • Scroll across to ‘Regiments’ in the Warzone friends list and start a Regiment
  • Use the invite button to add Activision accounts to your Regiment
  • Once they join, you’ll be able to invite them to Warzone games through the Regiment!
  • If none of these methods work to get past the friends list issue, you may have to contact Raven and Activision support directly. There could always be a larger problem at play.

It’s worth keeping your eyes on social media in case others are experiencing the same bugs.
