Fortnite Season 7 saw the arrival of a whole host of brand new content, weekly quests, and challenges. There’s tons of incredibly fun ones to get stuck into, and Week 1’s challenges saw players tasked by the iconic Rick Sanchez to go out on the hunt and interact with Mending Machines.
With the alien invasion of Fortnite Season 7 finally here, Epic has given us the option of doing everything from flying UFOs, decimating our opponents with new, alien-themed weapons, health-sapping Alien Parasites, and Cosmic Chests as players duel it out and level up.
One of the brand new features in the season is Mending Machines, a variation of the previous vending machine item type we’ve seen in the past.

Fortnite Season 7 introduced a whole load of new mechanics, from Cosmic Chests to Mending Machines. What are Mending Machines in Fortnite Season 7?
Mending Machines are the new name for Vending Machines in Fortnite Season 7. These machines, alongside Weapon-O-Matics, take materials collected across your game in exchange for incredibly helpful items such as weapons and consumables like shield potions and medkits.
It’s a possibility that the weekly challenge from Rick Sanchez that tasks you with visiting one of these and purchasing a shield potion could return. Previously, this challenge rewarded you with a very decent 30,000 EXP.
How to use Mending Machines
To interact with these machines and claim your loot, all you need to do is:
To purchase one of these shield potions, though, you’ll need to part with Gold Bars. You can get these easily by interacting with and completing tasks from NPCs. Nabbing yourself a small shield potion costs a reasonable 30 Gold Bars, and a steeper 120 for a large shield potion.
Rick tasked players with visiting the Mending Machines back in Week 1’s set of challenges. All Mending Machine locations in Fortnite Season 7
