Plenty of character skins come and go in Apex Legends, but none have hit quite the same level of mega-popularity in the playerbase as Wraith’s Voidwalker event costume, sparking the question — will we ever see the throwback skin return?
Wraith’s legendary Voidwalker skin — first called Ghostwraith before being renamed by Respawn, is by far one of the title’s most popular skins. That’s no surprise when you consider Wraith is played by nearly a quarter of the fanbase.
Apex’s player-count has simply grown over the past year though, which means many of the fans who love the Interdimensional Skirmisher missed out on the Season 2 Voidwalker event the skin was first released in.

The Town Takeover event, focused on Wraith, brought two new points of interest to the map — Singh Labs exterior and interior. It also brought a number of new cosmetics, including the 1,800 Apex coin ($18 USD) skin.
Now, newer players are wondering if they’ll ever get a chance to buy what many consider to be Wraith’s coolest ever skin. If Respawn’s recent comments on skin’s returning are anything to go off, however, it’s not looking good.
More than a quarter of all Apex Legends fans play Wraith, meaning her rare Voidwalker skin is super-popular.[ad name=”article2″]
Respawn weighs in on Voidwalker’s potential return
One particularly avid Wraith fan took to Twitter on March 10 to bug Respawn’s devs on the topic. ‘Miracleboy93’ asked the question on every Wraith player’s lips: will “those who missed out” on the Voidwalker skin see it return any time soon?
While Respawn’s senior animator Moy Parra, who was originally tagged, suggested it “wasn’t really his call” to make, and added he wasn’t sure “if or when it will be back,” producer Josh Medina had a more final comment on the topic.
“It might never be back… it’s an event exclusive item,” he said in response to the March 10 question, seemingly dashing the hopes of Wraith mains everywhere.

Is there still a chance the skin could return?
Considering Apex has never seen an event-specific skin return to the game’s cosmetic store, the outlook isn’t so good for Voidwalker fans who missed out. Adding that to Respawn’s new comments, and it’s pretty dire.
There could still be a chance though, as long as Wraith mains keep all their portal-bound fingers and toes crossed. While Medina’s comment seemed to be quite firm on the point of its return, he did leave things kind of vague.
Never say never, however. Wraith is far and away the most popular legend in the battle royale, with 29.85% of players choosing the Interdimensional Skirmisher during the Override event, according to stats site Dreamteam.
In fact, only Pathfinder comes close, with 19.30%. Because of this, it’s always likely Respawn and publishers EA may want to cash in on the ever-growing hype. What better way to do that than by bringing back the game’s most popular skin?

Wraith fans will have to keep their eyes on the horizon, just in case Voidwalker makes its long-awaited return. For now, however, Wraith mains who missed the super-popular event skin will just have to wait. There’s every chance we may begin to see old cosmetics ‘unvaulted’ in the future, but there’s no indication that could be anytime soon.
Wraith mains could also be in for a treat when Bloodhound’s Town Takeover arrives at the end of the month, and a host of new cosmetics are introduced. Who knows? Maybe Apex taps into the Wraith love, and gives her another top-tier skin.
